feederless

Feederless is an adjective describing something that lacks a feeder or is not supplied by a feeder component. The term is formed from feeder plus the suffix less and is chiefly used in technical or niche contexts rather than common language.

In electrical engineering and power distribution, feederless can describe configurations where there is no intermediate feeder line between a substation or source and the point of use. Such usage may appear in descriptions of simplified wiring schemes, standalone devices, or certain microgrid arrangements where a device or system operates directly from a main distribution bus without an intervening feeder.

In ecological, agricultural, or animal-keeping contexts, feederless may refer to a situation where animals or ecosystems do not rely on human-provided feeding devices. For example, a feederless enclosure or habitat would be one in which inhabitants obtain food from natural sources or internal reserves rather than from a dedicated feeder.

In information technology or data engineering, feederless describes processes that generate, recover, or consume data without a separate feeder module. A self-contained sensor network, for instance, might be described as feederless if it outputs data directly to a processing pipeline without an intermediate data feeder component.
