Ezüstjódot is the Hungarian name for Silvervine, a plant scientifically known as Actinidia polygama. It is a deciduous climbing vine native to eastern Asia, including China, Korea, Japan, and the Russian Far East. Silvervine is closely related to the kiwifruit vine.

The plant is characterized by its heart-shaped leaves, which often develop white or yellow splotches, particularly on older growth, giving it the common name "Silvervine." In late spring and early summer, it produces small, fragrant white flowers that can be followed by small, inedible yellow fruits.

Silvervine has a notable effect on cats. Similar to catnip (Nepeta cataria), Silvervine contains compounds that can induce a euphoric and playful response in many felines. This reaction is attributed to actinidine and dihydroactinidiolide, chemicals present in the plant. Cats may roll, rub, vocalize, and exhibit playful behaviors when exposed to Silvervine. This makes it a popular ingredient in some cat toys and treats.

Beyond its effect on cats, Silvervine has also been used in traditional medicine in some Asian cultures, though scientific research on its medicinal properties is limited.
