exokysistä
Exokysis is a term that has appeared in certain speculative discussions related to extraterrestrial life and advanced civilizations. It refers to a hypothetical scenario where an alien civilization, instead of developing biological life from inorganic matter on a planet, actively creates or cultivates life forms exogenously, meaning from outside the planet's natural evolutionary processes. This could involve the deliberate seeding of life, the creation of artificial organisms, or the genetic engineering of existing life on a celestial body. The concept suggests that a sufficiently advanced civilization might possess the technological capabilities to initiate and guide the development of life on other worlds, perhaps as an experiment, a form of terraforming, or for reasons yet unknown. The idea of exokysis is primarily theoretical and lacks empirical evidence. It is often explored in science fiction and philosophical debates about the origins of life and the potential for intelligent intervention in cosmic processes. The term itself is a portmanteau, combining "exo" (meaning outside) and "kysis" (a Greek root related to generation or creation). Therefore, exokysis literally implies an "outside creation" of life. While the scientific community generally focuses on abiogenesis as the natural origin of life, exokysis presents an alternative, albeit speculative, paradigm for how life might arise elsewhere in the universe.
