In Finland, as in the European Union, distance selling is subject to specific consumer protection regulations. Key provisions include the right of withdrawal, also known as the cooling-off period, which allows consumers to cancel a purchase within a specified timeframe, typically 14 days, without needing to provide a reason.

Sellers engaging in etämyynnit are obligated to provide consumers with clear and comprehensive information before the contract is concluded. This information typically includes details about the seller's identity and contact information, the main characteristics of the goods or services, the total price including all taxes and additional charges, payment arrangements, delivery details, and the consumer's right of withdrawal. The seller must also confirm these details in writing or on another durable medium after the contract has been concluded, but no later than at the time of delivery of the goods or before the performance of the service.

These regulations apply to both business-to-consumer (B2C) transactions.
