Esipääntyminen, also known as foreskin retraction or the ability to pull back the foreskin, is a normal physiological development in males. In infancy and early childhood, the foreskin is typically adhered to the glans penis. This adherence, called physiological phimosis, is a natural state and does not impede urination. As a child grows, the foreskin gradually separates from the glans. This separation process is usually complete by adolescence, allowing the foreskin to be easily retracted, exposing the glans.

The ability to retract the foreskin is generally considered a sign of healthy penile development.
