Entrism is a political strategy where members of a political party or organization join another organization with the intent of influencing its policies and direction from within. The goal of entrism is to gradually shift the parent organization's ideology or agenda towards that of the entrism group. This tactic is often employed by smaller political factions seeking to gain influence or power in larger, more established parties. Entrists typically operate covertly, concealing their true allegiances and motivations from the wider membership of the host organization.

The practice of entrism is associated with various political ideologies, particularly within revolutionary socialist movements. Historically, some communist parties advocated for entrism as a means to infiltrate social democratic or labor parties, aiming to steer them towards a more revolutionary path. The effectiveness of entrism can depend on factors such as the internal political culture of the target organization, the level of discipline and coordination among the entrists, and the receptiveness of the existing membership to new ideas or leadership. Critics often view entrism as a manipulative and undemocratic tactic, arguing that it undermines the integrity of the targeted organization and can lead to internal division and disarray. Defenders, however, may argue that it is a necessary strategy for radical change in systems where overt political action is suppressed or ineffective.
