dicev

Dicev is an open-source framework for distributed, event-driven computation in embedded and edge environments, with a focus on security, interoperability, and modular extensibility.

The core of dicev consists of a lightweight runtime, an event bus, and a plugin system. Microagents run small tasks and respond to events. Adapters provide interfaces to sensors, networks, and storage backends. A policy engine enforces data provenance, access control, and retention rules, enabling privacy-preserving data sharing across devices.

Developed as a collaborative project by researchers and practitioners in the edge computing community, the initial release appeared in 2021, with subsequent updates emphasizing stronger security, better diagnostics, and broader platform support. The project is maintained on a public code repository with an open governance model.

Use cases include connected vehicles, industrial IoT, and smart-home networks, especially where devices must coordinate actions with low latency while respecting data governance policies.

Dicev is released under the MIT License and is designed to be hardware- and language-agnostic. Documentation covers installation, runtime concepts, and contribution guidelines.
