Exploration for diamondrich occurrences relies on indicator minerals, geophysical surveys, and bulk sampling to establish grade, distribution, and recoverable resources. Grades are typically reported in carats per tonne for primary deposits or carats per cubic metre for alluvial deposits.

Mining and processing approaches vary with deposit type. Kimberlite pipes may require underground or open-pit mining followed by dense-media separation and X-ray transmission sorting to recover diamonds, while alluvial operations often use sluicing and gravity separation. Resource estimates for diamondrich prospects follow standard frameworks (such as NI 43-101 or the JORC Code) and include cutoff grades, recoveries, and projected cash flow.

Economically, diamondrich projects depend on diamond prices, processing yields, and capital costs, as well as regulatory, environmental, and social considerations. The term conveys potential value in early-stage assessments but does not itself guarantee profitability; robust resource estimation, market analysis, and risk management are required to advance such deposits to development.
