Deescalo is a term encountered mainly in informal Spanish-language writing and online content to denote the act of de-escalating a tense situation. It is not listed in standard Spanish dictionaries and appears to be a nonstandard contraction or misspelling of desescalar or desescalamiento, or a phonetic shorthand rather than an established lexical item.

In practice, de-escalation refers to techniques used to reduce emotion, conflict, and risk. Common contexts include policing, education, healthcare, and customer service. Strategies often cited include speaking calmly and slowly, maintaining non-threatening body language, acknowledging emotions, offering choices, using reflective listening, and giving the other person time and space.
