Decorfolie, also known as decorative foil or self-adhesive decorative film, is a thin vinyl or plastic sheet that can be applied to surfaces to alter appearance. It combines decorative patterns, textures and colors with a pressure-sensitive adhesive, allowing easy transformation of furniture, walls and fixtures.

It is widely used in interior design to simulate materials such as wood, stone or metal, as well as to create color accents. Decorfolie can be applied to walls, cabinet fronts, shelves, glass and appliances, providing a reversible or temporary finish without refinishing.

Application typically requires a clean, dry surface and careful measuring. The film is cut to size, peeled, and applied with a squeegee or soft cloth, using either dry or wet application methods to reduce air bubbles. Edges are trimmed for a seamless look.

Durability depends on the film and environment; indoor decorfolie often lasts several years with proper care. It is generally resistant to light and mild cleaning, though excessive sun exposure can fade colors. Removal is usually possible without damage, though older coatings may leave adhesive residue.

Limitations include reduced effectiveness on highly curved or textured surfaces, potential damage to underlying coatings if improperly removed, and reduced performance outdoors or in high-heat areas. Selection should match surface, desired finish, and installation method.
