decalsiirto
Decalsiirto, or decal transfer, is a technique for applying printed designs to a surface using a thin, pre-printed film carrying ink and an adhesive layer. It is widely used in model making, automotive detailing, signage, and decorative work. The two main types are water-slide decals, which require soaking in water to release the decal from its paper backing and then sliding it onto the target surface; and self-adhesive decals, which have a pressure-sensitive adhesive and can be applied directly. A dry-transfer variant transfers the design by pressure, without a liquid.
Application process: choose a clean, dry substrate; cut or trim the decal if necessary; for water-slide, soak
Materials and surfaces: decal films are usually polyester or cellulose-based; adhesives differ between water-slide and self-adhesive
Durability and limitations: decals can be affected by moisture, heat, and UV light; improper handling can cause
