cryopomp
Cryopomp is a term sometimes used to refer to equipment or devices associated with moving, trapping, or circulating cryogenic fluids and gases. Although not widely standardized, the word commonly appears as a variant or colloquial form of cryopump or cryogenic pump. In that sense, a cryopomp encompasses machines that operate at very low temperatures to achieve vacuum pumping by condensing or adsorbing gases, or to transfer and circulate liquefied gases such as liquid helium or nitrogen.
Function and principles: cryopomps rely on low temperatures to change the phase or surface interaction of gases.
Applications: cryopomps are used in scientific research, semiconductor manufacturing, particle accelerators, space-simulation chambers, and in the
Design and considerations: typical concerns include material selection for low thermal contraction, hermetic sealing, minimization of
Terminology note: because "cryopump" is the more common technical term, sources using "cryopomp" may be informal,
