crossBaltic

crossBaltic is an international cooperative initiative designed to foster cross-border collaboration across the Baltic Sea region. It functions as a platform that brings together government authorities, regional municipalities, universities, research institutes, and industry partners to coordinate activities spanning transport, energy, digital infrastructure, environment, research, and culture.

The initiative aims to improve cross-border connectivity, align regional development with European Union macro-regional strategies for the Baltic Sea Region, share data and best practices, and pool resources for joint projects. It emphasizes sustainable and inclusive growth, climate resilience, and innovation, with participation open to several neighboring countries in addition to the core Baltic states.

Governance is organized around a rotating steering group with representatives from member states, supported by a central secretariat and sectoral working groups. It coordinates with EU programs, regional authorities, and national governments. Funding sources typically include EU structural funds, national budgets, and contributions from private sector partners, along with project-specific grants.

Activities include identifying opportunities for cross-border projects, coordinating funding applications, hosting policy dialogues and conferences, and maintaining an information portal for stakeholders.
