Cementalapú is a term used to describe materials and products whose primary binding matrix is cement, typically Portland cement, and whose properties arise mainly from cement hydration. In practice, cementalapú materials encompass concrete, mortars, renders, and many cementitious composites used across construction, repair, and manufacturing. The expression is common in Hungarian-language technical literature to distinguish cement-based systems from cementless binders such as lime, gypsum, or polymer-based alternatives.

These materials usually consist of a cementitious binder, water, aggregates (such as sand and gravel), and various admixtures or supplementary cementitious materials. Additives can modify workability, setting time, cure rate, and durability, while pozzolanic or blast-furnace-derived materials may replace part of the cement to influence performance and environmental impact.

Key properties of cementalapú materials include compressive strength, stiffness, durability against chemicals and weathering, and resistance to mechanical wear. They are susceptible to shrinkage cracking, thermal cracking, and carbonation if not properly designed or cured. Durability depends on factors such as cement type, water-cement ratio, aggregate quality, and exposure conditions.

Common applications cover structural concrete, reinforced and non-reinforced elements, masonry mortars, plaster and renders, tile adhesives, repair mortars, and increasingly cementitious composites used in prefabrication and digital fabrication techniques.

Environmental considerations focus on the energy intensity and CO2 emissions associated with cement production, prompting approaches such as partial clinker replacement, supplementary cementitious materials, and optimized mixes to balance performance with sustainability.
