Celowanie is the act of directing a weapon, instrument, or optical device toward a target, with the aim of aligning the line of aim with the target and, in practice, delivering a hit or precise measurement. In Polish usage the term spans sports shooting, hunting, military training, archery, and certain technical fields such as optics and surveying.

In shooting disciplines and archery, celowanie involves several linked elements. A shooter or archer assumes an appropriate stance, grip, and posture; a sight picture is established using iron sights or optical sights; the eye (often the dominant eye) is aligned with the reticle or sights while the target is focused. Breathing control, trigger or release discipline, and follow-through contribute to shot consistency. The core task is to align the aiming reference with the target and to anticipate projectile behavior at the chosen distance and conditions.

Zeroing, or sighting in, is a common practice within celowanie. It means adjusting windage and elevation so that the point of aim matches the point of impact at a specified distance. This entails testing at known ranges and accounting for factors such as wind, bullet drop, and equipment parallax.

In other contexts, celowanie can refer to the alignment or calibration of optical, surveying, or measurement instruments to ensure accurate readings or targeting.
