A casterboard is a two-wheeled board for gliding, similar in concept to a skateboard but with a different design and riding style. It consists of two platforms, one for each foot, connected by a torsion bar that allows the rider to twist their body to propel themselves forward. Each platform has a single wheel, which can rotate 360 degrees, allowing for a unique, snake-like movement. Unlike skateboards, casterboards do not require the rider to push off the ground. Instead, propulsion is generated by the rider's weaving motion.

The design of a casterboard typically includes two deck sections made of plastic or composite materials, with a metal torsion bar connecting them underneath. The wheels are mounted on casters, similar to those found on office chairs, enabling them to swivel freely. This swivel action is key to the casterboard's maneuverability and its distinctive riding experience. Riders can turn and carve in various directions with less effort than on a traditional skateboard.

Casterboards are often used for recreation and exercise. While they share some similarities with skateboards, the riding technique is distinct, requiring a different balance and coordination. Learning to ride a casterboard can involve a period of adjustment due to its unique motion and the need to master the twisting and weaving necessary for propulsion. They are generally considered easier to pick up for some individuals compared to skateboarding, as the need for manual pushing is eliminated.
