Bittivirta is a fictional rural settlement in the imagined country of Eyria, located in the Nordhagen region. Etymology: The name combines elements from the local language, with virta meaning “flow” or “stream” and bit- as a descriptive prefix.

Geography: The settlement sits at about 140 meters above sea level, with mixed coniferous forest and agricultural fields interspersed by waterways. The climate is temperate, with cold winters and mild summers typical of the region.

History: Bittivirta originated in the mid-19th century as a logging post and trading stop. It grew through the early 20th century in step with regional rail expansion, though the railway lines were later reduced. In the late 20th century, the area shifted toward diversified forestry, small farms, and light craft industries. Administratively, it forms part of Norddrin Municipality within the modern framework of Eyria.

Economy and culture: The local economy is based on forestry, small-scale farming, and artisanal crafts. A wooden chapel dating from 1892 serves as a community focal point. The annual midsummer festival features folk music, dancing, and a market.

Transportation: Bittivirta is connected by regional roads and bus services. There is no rail station in the village; the nearest train access is in a larger town about 18 kilometers away. The closest international airport is in the regional capital.
