Bilimci means scientist in Turkish, and bilimcis is a nonstandard plural form sometimes encountered in multilingual writing. The standard Turkish plural is bilimciler. This article uses the term bilimcis to refer to scientists in a general sense, with attention to Turkish linguistic usage and the broader international context.

Bilimcis engage in systematic inquiry to understand natural phenomena, social processes, or both. They apply the scientific method: formulating questions, developing testable hypotheses, gathering and analyzing data, and communicating findings. They work across many disciplines, including biology, physics, chemistry, engineering, medicine, earth science, psychology, economics, and other fields. Many also contribute to technology development, policy, and education.

Most bilimcis hold advanced training, typically through university study and research experience. They may work in universities, government laboratories, industry R&D departments, museums, healthcare institutions, or non-governmental organizations. Collaboration is common, both within teams and across borders, disciplines, and cultures. Results are usually shared through peer-reviewed journals, conference presentations, and public engagement. Ethical standards, transparency, and reproducibility are increasingly emphasized, including proper data handling, open access, and responsible communication.

The community of bilimcis is diverse and globally connected, reflecting many traditions of scientific inquiry. While science has achieved broad consensus on many theories, it relies on ongoing testing and revision as new evidence appears. Public trust depends on clear reporting, accessibility of data, and accountability.
