In obstetrics, certain beta-2 agonists have been used to suppress premature labor by relaxing uterine muscles, although this use is less common now due to potential side effects.

Common side effects of beta-2 agonists can include tremors, palpitations, increased heart rate, headache, and nervousness. The specific side effects and their intensity can vary depending on the drug, the route of administration, and the individual patient's response.
