Attenuando is a musical term of Italian origin used to indicate a gradual decrease in volume. The word derives from attenuare, meaning to weaken or soften, and functions as a dynamic instruction in written scores.

In performance, attenuando instructs the musician to reduce loudness progressively over a passage, typically continuing until another dynamic level is reached. It may be realized through a hairpin symbol (a decrescendo) or through explicit text alongside other dynamics such as piano or mezzo-piano.
