Arcidegbénulás, also known as facial paralysis or Bell's palsy, is a condition characterized by sudden weakness or paralysis of the muscles on one side of the face. This typically results in a drooping appearance of the mouth and eyelid on the affected side, as well as difficulty with facial expressions like smiling or closing the eye. The exact cause of arcidegbénulás is not always known, but it is often attributed to inflammation of the facial nerve (cranial nerve VII), which controls the muscles of facial expression. Viral infections, such as herpes simplex virus, are frequently suspected as triggers.
The onset of arcidegbénulás is usually abrupt, often occurring within hours or a few days. While the
