anzieht

Anzieht is a German word form connected to the verb anziehen. The verb anziehen has two main meanings: to put on clothing (dressing) and to attract or draw toward. When used in the clothing sense, anziehen is a separable-prefix verb: in the present tense the prefix usually moves to the end of the clause, as in er zieht sich an or sie zieht die Jacke an. In the sense of attraction, anziehen is used transitively, for example etwas zieht jemanden an (something attracts someone). The past participle is angezogen.

Etymology and related forms: anziehen derives from the prefix an- combined with ziehen (to pull or draw).

Usage notes: In modern standard German, the present-tense third-person singular form is zieht an (two words)

Examples: Sie zieht sich eine Jacke an. (She puts on a jacket.) Der Duft zieht Touristen an.
