antennetuner
An antennetuner, commonly referred to as an antenna tuner, is a device used to reconcile the impedance of an antenna system with the output impedance of a radio transmitter. Its primary purpose is to maximize power transfer and minimize reflected power, typically by reducing the standing-wave ratio (SWR) seen by the transmitter.
Most antennetuners are passive impedance-matching networks placed between transmitter and feedline or between feedline and antenna.
Operation is straightforward: an operator adjusts the network while monitoring forward and reflected power or SWR
Limitations and caveats: a tuner does not improve an antenna’s intrinsic efficiency or create power where none
Applications: antennetuners are widely used in amateur radio, shortwave broadcasting, marine, and field-operating setups where multi-band
