AnimaAnimus is a term found in Jungian psychology and contemporary discourse to describe the combined concept of anima and animus—the inner feminine and inner masculine archetypes that reside in the psyche of all people. While Jung originally treated anima and animus as separate figures, many discussions refer to them together as a pair that interacts within an individual to shape perception, emotion, and behavior.

The anima represents the feminine inner life in men, arising from both personal experience and the collective feminine aspects of the psyche; the animus is the masculine inner life in women, influenced by personal and cultural notions of masculinity. Together, they function as guides to individuation, helping a person integrate opposite-energy tendencies, project them onto others, and navigate dreams and creative insight.

Development proceeds through childhood experiences, relationships with caretakers, and cultural context. In dreams, the anima and animus may appear as personified figures who offer advice, warning, or revelation. In therapy, activating and reconciling these archetypes can reduce internal conflict and interpersonal projection, supporting a more integrated self.

In modern usage, AnimaAnimus may be used as a shorthand for discussing how both inner feminine and masculine elements influence personality and relationships, though it is not a distinct formal term in Jungian doctrine.
