Akriliniai is the Lithuanian term used to describe materials and products based on acrylic polymers. These polymers are derived from acrylic acid or methacrylic acid and are produced by polymerization to form long-chain molecules. The scope of akriliniai covers several major categories, including acrylic plastics (such as polymethyl methacrylate, PMMA), acrylic paints, and acrylic fibers, as well as related adhesives and coatings.

Acrylic paints, or akriliniai dažai, are water-based dispersions of polymer particles that cure to a flexible, durable film. They dry quickly, offer good color retention, and adhere to a wide range of substrates, including canvas, wood, metal, and plastic. Cleanup is typically by water while the paint is wet. The films formed are generally resistant to weathering and UV exposure, though pigment selection can influence long-term stability.

Acrylic plastics, especially PMMA, are valued for optical clarity, UV resistance, and toughness. They are lighter and more impact-resistant than glass, making them common in glazing, lenses, signage, and displays. PMMA is also used in medical devices and consumer products due to its biocompatibility and ease of processing.

Acrylic fibers, based on polyacrylonitrile or copolymers, are soft, warm, and resistant to moths. They are widely used in textiles, including sweaters, blankets, and upholstery, often as a lightweight alternative to natural fibers.

Other forms include acrylic-based adhesives and coatings, which provide strong bonding, good weather resistance, and chemical resistance across various substrates. Environmentally, akriliniai materials are generally not biodegradable and require dedicated recycling or disposal pathways. Safety considerations focus on handling practices during production and curing, as some acrylate compounds can be irritants.
