Akkusarja is a Finnish term that translates to "battery series" or "battery pack." It refers to a collection of rechargeable batteries that are connected together, either in series or parallel, to provide a higher voltage or capacity than a single battery. These battery packs are commonly used in portable electronic devices, electric vehicles, and energy storage systems.

The configuration of an akkusarja depends on the desired output. Connecting batteries in series increases the total voltage. For example, connecting two 3.7V batteries in series would result in a 7.4V pack. Connecting batteries in parallel, on the other hand, increases the total capacity (amp-hours) while maintaining the voltage. This means the device can run for a longer period before needing to be recharged.

Modern akkusarja often incorporate a battery management system (BMS). This electronic system monitors and controls the charging, discharging, and temperature of individual cells within the pack. A BMS is crucial for ensuring the safety, performance, and longevity of the battery pack.
