Abstractseert is a term used in information science and artificial intelligence to describe the process of creating an abstract from a larger body of text or data. It is a neologism not yet standardized in major dictionaries.

In practice, abstractseert is often used synonymously with abstractive summarization, a category of approaches that generate new, concise text that preserves the meaning of the source rather than simply extracting existing passages.

In natural language processing, abstractseert involves building a representation of the input content and using a generator to produce a compact summary. Compared with extractive methods, abstractive approaches can rephrase and compress information.

Typical workflow includes preprocessing, encoding into a latent representation, and decoding to produce the abstract. Evaluations consider informativeness, readability, and factual accuracy, commonly using ROUGE scores alongside human judgment.
