Záludnost is a Czech noun that denotes the quality of being cunning, sly, or crafty, especially in a context that requires deception or manipulation. The word derives from the adjective *záludný*, which itself comes from the old Slavic root *lúda*, meaning “to conspicuously devise or plot.” In modern usage, záludnost often carries a negative connotation, implying unethical or unscrupulous behavior, although it can sometimes be used neutrally to describe intellectual shrewdness in strategy games or business negotiations.

In literature and folklore, záludnost is frequently associated with trickster figures who use cleverness to outwit stronger opponents or to survive difficult circumstances.
