Zurriola

Zurriola is a beach located in the Gros neighborhood of San Sebastián, Gipuzkoa, Spain. It is the youngest of the three main beaches in the city, having been urbanized in the 1930s. Unlike the more family-oriented La Concha or Ondarreta, Zurriola is known for its strong waves and is a popular destination for surfers and bodyboarders.

The beach stretches for about 800 meters along the Urumea River estuary. Its energetic surf conditions attract a younger crowd and a vibrant atmosphere, with numerous surf schools and rental shops lining the promenade. The promenade itself is a lively area, featuring cafes, restaurants, and bars that are popular with locals and tourists alike.

Zurriola is also a venue for various events, most notably the Heineken Jazzaldia, San Sebastián's international jazz festival, which holds concerts on a floating stage just offshore. The beach is bordered by the Kursaal Congress Centre and Auditorium, a striking modern building that hosts cultural events and conferences. The presence of the Kursaal and the lively beach culture contributes to Zurriola's reputation as a dynamic and contemporary urban beach.
