Zuigervullers

Zuigervullers, often translated as "piston fillers" or "plunger fillers," are a type of fountain pen filling mechanism. This system utilizes a piston and a cylinder integrated within the pen's barrel to draw ink into the reservoir. When the user twists a knob, typically located at the end of the barrel, a piston inside moves downwards, creating a vacuum. This vacuum then draws ink from an ink bottle through the nib and into the pen's internal ink chamber.

To refill the pen, the user immerses the nib in ink, then operates the filling knob. The movement of the piston creates suction, pulling the ink up into the barrel. Once the piston is fully retracted, the user may need to twist it slightly in the opposite direction to expel any trapped air bubbles before fully filling the reservoir.

Zuigervullers are known for their relatively large ink capacity compared to other filling methods like cartridge fillers. They also allow users to fill their pens directly from any bottle of fountain pen ink, offering a wider selection of colors and brands.
