Zinkovat

Zinkovat is a Czech verb that translates to "to galvanize" or "to zinc-plate" in English. It refers to the process of applying a protective zinc coating to a metal object, typically iron or steel, to prevent corrosion. This process is also known as galvanization.

The primary method of zinkovat is hot-dip galvanizing, where the metal object is immersed in a bath of molten zinc. Other methods include electrogalvanizing, which uses an electrolytic process to deposit zinc, and mechanical galvanizing. The zinc coating acts as a barrier, preventing corrosive substances from reaching the base metal. It also provides cathodic protection, meaning that even if the coating is scratched, the zinc will corrode preferentially, protecting the steel.

Zinkovat is a widely used industrial process. Galvanized steel is found in numerous applications, including construction materials like rebar and structural beams, automotive parts, guardrails, wire mesh, and roofing. The durability and corrosion resistance provided by zinc plating extend the lifespan of metal products significantly, making them more economical and sustainable.
