Zik

Zik is primarily known as a nickname derived from the surname Azikiwe, and it is most closely associated with Nnamdi Azikiwe, a prominent Nigerian statesman. He is often referred to simply as Zik or as Zik of Africa, a title bestowed by supporters and the press in recognition of his pan-Africanist outlook.

Nnamdi Azikiwe (1904–1996) played a central role in Nigeria’s path to independence. A journalist and political organizer, he founded the West African Pilot and became a leading figure in the National Council of Nigeria and the Cameroons (NCNC).
