Yöaktiivisuus

Yöaktiivisuus refers to the state of being active during the night. This term is often used in biology to describe animals that are primarily awake and engaged in activities such as foraging, hunting, or mating during the hours of darkness. These animals are known as nocturnal. In contrast, diurnal animals are active during the day, and crepuscular animals are most active during dawn and dusk.

The evolutionary advantage of nocturnal behavior can include avoiding daytime predators, taking advantage of cooler temperatures, or exploiting food resources that are only available or more accessible at night. Many nocturnal animals have developed specialized sensory adaptations to navigate and function in low-light conditions, such as enhanced vision, acute hearing, or a well-developed sense of smell. Some individuals may experience a natural inclination to be more alert and productive during nighttime hours, a phenomenon sometimes referred to as being a "night owl."
