Xning

Xning is a fictional city in Veridia, a country created for the purpose of this article. Located in the northern highlands near the River Leth, Xning covers an area of about 112 square kilometers and sits at an elevation of 320 meters. The climate is temperate, with mild summers and cool winters, and rainfall distributed throughout the year.

Xning was founded in the 12th century as a trading outpost and grew around a medieval market and a later fortress. It expanded during the industrial era with the construction of the River Canal and rail connections. In recent decades it has diversified into services and research.

The economy is diversified: logistics and manufacturing along the river corridor, higher education and research at Xning University, and a growing tech startup sector. The city hosts an annual trade fair attracting regional firms.

The city has a population of approximately 180,000 residents, with a mix of urban and suburban neighborhoods. The historic core retains traditional architecture alongside modern developments.

Xning University, founded in 1894, is the main higher education institution. Cultural institutions include the Xning Museum of History, Sunlight Theater, and the Riverside Gallery. The Xning Festival, held each autumn, features music, crafts, and street performances.

Xning is served by a central railway station on the Veridia Main Line and by a network of bus services. A light-rail link connects the riverfront district to the university campus.
