XiphOrg

XiphOrg is an international non-profit organization dedicated to promoting open, royalty-free media formats and interoperable standards for digital audio, video, and metadata. The organization coordinates development of open specifications, provides reference implementations, and advocates for policies that reduce vendor lock-in and encourage collaboration among engineers, researchers, and educators.

XiphOrg was established in 2010 by a group of researchers and practitioners in digital media who sought to advance open formats as alternatives to proprietary codecs.
