The term, a portmanteau of XOR (exclusive OR) and "port," suggests a mechanism where network traffic destined for a specific port is processed using an XOR encryption/decryption technique before being allowed to enter or leave the system. This could be implemented as a specialized firewall or Intrusion Prevention System (IPS) that not only filters traffic based on port numbers but also applies a reversible XOR transformation.

The core idea behind XORporttia is to add a layer of obscurity or active defense to standard port-based access controls.
