XC60

The Volvo XC60 is a compact luxury crossover SUV produced by Volvo Cars. Debuted in 2008 for the 2009 model year, it sits in the middle of Volvo's SUV lineup, offering seating for five and an emphasis on safety, comfort, and practicality. Production has been concentrated at Volvo’s plants in Gothenburg, Sweden, and Ghent, Belgium, with additional production for Chinese markets.

The first generation shared platforms with other Volvo models and featured Volvo's design language, including Thor’s Hammer LED daytime running lights. It received a mid-cycle refresh around 2013–2014. In 2017 Volvo introduced a second-generation XC60, built on the Scalable Product Architecture (SPA). The new model adopted bolder styling and improved efficiency, while retaining the five-seat configuration and cargo space.

Powertrains include gasoline and diesel engines, and a plug-in hybrid variant known as the T8 Twin Engine combines a petrol engine with an electric motor. The XC60 also offers mild-hybrid options in some markets. Fuel economy and emissions vary by engine and market. The XC60 emphasizes safety features such as City Safety automatic braking, Pilot Assist semi-autonomous driving, Lane Keeping Aid, and Blind Spot Information.

It directly competes with compact luxury crossovers from BMW, Audi, and Mercedes-Benz, as well as Volvo's own XC40. It has been a strong seller for Volvo, contributing to the brand's global growth, and remains a core model in Volvo’s lineup.
