Wutung
Wutung is a small rural settlement situated in the Nduga regency of the Indonesian province of West Papua. The community lies within a dense tropical rainforest and is accessible primarily by riverine routes and limited forest tracks from the provincial capital, Manokwari. The population of Wutung is composed mainly of the indigenous Asmat people, who maintain traditional customs and a subsistence lifestyle. The principal economic activities are subsistence agriculture, hunting, and fishing, supplemented by the collection of local forest products such as wild fruits and medicinal plants.
The name Wutung also refers to a distinct Papuan language spoken by the local inhabitants. Linguistic research
