Wonderware

Wonderware is a brand of industrial software known for its offerings in human–machine interface (HMI), SCADA (supervisory control and data acquisition), and manufacturing operations management (MOM). The portfolio centers on real-time process visualization, data collection and trending, alarm management, historical data analysis, and integration with plant floor equipment and enterprise systems. Core products historically include InTouch for HMI, System Platform for scalable SCADA, and Historian for long-term data storage and analysis. The software is designed to connect operators with industrial processes, enabling monitoring, control, and optimization across manufacturing, utilities, and process industries.

Originating as Wonderware Corporation in the 1980s, the brand became part of larger industrial software groups through acquisitions. It was later acquired by Invensys, and after Invensys was acquired by Schneider Electric, the Wonderware software line became part of Schneider Electric’s portfolio. In 2018, AVEVA announced the acquisition of Schneider Electric’s industrial software business, including Wonderware, and the brand has since continued as part of AVEVA’s product family. In practice, many users continue to refer to the products by their historical names, such as InTouch and System Platform, while AVEVA positions them as part of its industrial automation software suite.

Key components and capabilities commonly associated with Wonderware include graphical development of operator interfaces, real-time data access from PLCs and historians, support for industry standards and protocols, alarm management, reporting, and integration with other enterprise systems. The software is widely used in manufacturing, water and wastewater, energy, and food and beverage sectors to support visualization, control, data analytics, and operational efficiency.
