Wizkid

Wizkid, born Ayodeji Ibrahim Balogun on 16 July 1990 in Lagos, Nigeria, is a Nigerian singer and songwriter known professionally as Wizkid. He is one of Africa's most prominent contemporary musicians and the founder of the Starboy Entertainment label.

He started in the church and in the group Glorious Five; released his debut album Superstar in 2011; followed by Ayo (2014) and Sounds from the Other Side (2017). His international breakthrough came in 2016 through Drake's One Dance, which topped charts worldwide. He subsequently signed with RCA Records for international releases and released Made in Lagos (2020), featuring the hit song Essence with Tems, which gained global popularity.

Wizkid has received multiple awards, including a Grammy Award for Best Original Song Written for Visual Media for "Brown Skin Girl" (2021). He has earned nominations and wins at The Headies, MOBO Awards, and other events, contributing to the global expansion of Afrobeats. His work and Starboy brand have influenced a generation of African artists and helped raise the profile of Nigerian music internationally.
