Limitations depend on material: asbestos-containing sheets pose serious health and environmental risks and require professional removal; metal sheets can be prone to corrosion in aggressive environments and may require coatings or paints; plastic variants can yellow or degrade under UV exposure and may have lower fire resistance. Sealing at overlaps and proper fasteners are essential to prevent leaks.

Regulation and safety considerations emphasize avoiding asbestos-containing products and handling any legacy materials according to local waste and hazard guidelines. Maintenance typically involves inspecting for cracks, corrosion, or leaks, cleaning debris, and replacing damaged sections. Wellplatten remain a common option where their profile and installation advantages meet project needs, though material choices have shifted toward safer and longer-lasting alternatives.
