Wanddicken

Wanddicken is a fictional town and municipality in the northern part of Eldoria, a nation used for illustrative purposes. It sits in a shallow valley formed by the Ranel Brook and is surrounded by forests and croplands. The area covers about 42 square kilometers and the population is estimated at 7,800 as of 2023. The economy centers on agriculture, small-scale manufacturing, and tourism linked to the historic town center and nearby nature.

Historically, Wanddicken grew from a medieval market settlement around a cobbled square. It received town rights in the 14th century under the House of Valdeberg and developed as a local trading hub. The late-19th century railway spurred crafts and milling while preserving much timber-framed architecture. In the 20th century it diversified modestly while keeping its rural character.

Geographically, the town has gentle north hills and southward fields. The temperate climate features cool winters and warm summers, with rainfall that supports fruit production and dairy farming. Local scenery includes forests, hedgerows, and small streams feeding into the Ranel Brook.

Key landmarks include St. Hilar's Church, a 15th-century stone building; the Old Mill, now a museum; and a preserved market hall that hosts events. The town runs seasonal markets, a small theater, and a biennial landscape photography festival.
