Värikonvertointi, or color conversion, refers to the process of transforming a color from one color space to another. This is essential because different devices and applications represent and display colors in distinct ways. For example, a color defined for a digital display using the RGB (Red, Green, Blue) model might need to be converted to the CMYK (Cyan, Magenta, Yellow, Key/Black) model for printing.

The goal of värikonvertointi is to maintain the visual appearance of a color as closely as possible across different mediums. This involves mathematical transformations based on the characteristics of each color space. Factors like gamut, which is the range of colors a device can produce, play a significant role.
