Vânzrile

Vânzrile is a fictional geographic region used in fantasy world-building. It refers to a crescent-shaped valley framed by limestone ridges, through which the Vânza River flows. The valley experiences a mild, temperate climate and is known for fertile soils and diverse ecosystems.

In the in-world lexicon, the name Vânzrile is a constructed term with roots in the ancient languages of the valley's inhabitants; scholars sometimes interpret it as meaning "shadowed water" or "valley of streams," though no single origin is universally accepted.

Located in the northern foothills of the Mirtha Range, Vânzrile covers roughly 420 square kilometers. The Vânza River carves a broad floodplain at the valley floor, while steep escarpments and forested slopes enclose it. The area supports orchards, vineyards, and mixed deciduous forest, with protected habitats for several endemic species.

Archaeological finds indicate permanent settlements from the Bronze Age, with later growth during trade-linked periods in late antiquity. The fortress of Lyrn stood on a high bluff as a guard point along the valley's principal route. In the contemporary setting, Vânzrile functions as an agricultural and cultural hub within the realm.

Agriculture dominates the economy, especially stone fruits, grapes, and olive varieties in warmer micro-climates. Timber, crafts, and small-scale manufacturing supplement income. Festivals celebrating harvest and music attract visitors from neighboring regions; traditional crafts include pottery and weaving.

Administratively, Vânzrile is part of the fictional province of Eldar and is governed by a local council within the city-state framework of Valinor. The permanent population is depicted at several thousand residents, with seasonal workers during harvest periods.
