Virhetoleranssi, sometimes translated as fault tolerance, refers to the property of a system that allows it to continue operating, possibly at a reduced level, rather than failing completely, when some part of the system fails. This concept is crucial in many fields, including computer science, engineering, and telecommunications, where the consequences of failure can be severe.

In computer systems, virhetoleranssi is achieved through various techniques. Redundancy is a common method, where critical components or data are duplicated.
