Vihreäkausia, meaning "green seasons" in Finnish, refers to periods of unusually lush and vibrant plant growth in natural environments. This phenomenon is often associated with specific climatic conditions that favor rapid vegetative development.

These periods are typically characterized by abundant rainfall, optimal temperatures for photosynthesis, and sufficient sunlight. These factors combine to stimulate intense growth in vegetation, leading to a noticeable increase in greenness and biomass. Vihreäkausia can occur in various ecosystems, from forests to meadows, and can be influenced by seasonal changes, El Niño-Southern Oscillation (ENSO) events, or other environmental shifts.

The visual impact of a vihreäkausia is striking, with landscapes appearing exceptionally verdant.
