LCDs use liquid crystals to control the passage of light, while OLEDs use organic compounds to emit light directly. Both LCDs and OLEDs are backlit displays, but OLEDs offer deeper blacks and better contrast ratios due to their self-emissive nature. CRT displays, although outdated, were the first widely used technology for video displays, known for their high brightness and wide viewing angles.
