Videoelektroonika is a field of electronics that deals with the capture, processing, display, and transmission of video signals. It encompasses a wide range of technologies and components that enable the creation and enjoyment of visual media. At its core, videoelektroonika involves converting light into electrical signals, manipulating these signals to enhance image quality, store them, and then converting them back into visible light for viewing on displays.

Key components within videoelektroonika include image sensors found in cameras, such as CCD and CMOS sensors, which are responsible for converting photons into electrical charges. Signal processing units, often realized through integrated circuits and digital signal processors (DSPs), are crucial for tasks like compression, noise reduction, and color correction. Video encoders and decoders are essential for converting analog video into digital formats and vice versa, as well as for compressing and decompressing video data for efficient storage and transmission.

Display technologies form another vital part of videoelektroonika. This includes cathode ray tubes (CRTs), though largely outdated, and modern technologies like liquid crystal displays (LCDs), light-emitting diodes (LEDs), organic light-emitting diodes (OLEDs), and plasma displays. These devices translate processed electrical signals into visible light patterns that form an image. The transmission of video signals, whether wired through HDMI or coaxial cables, or wireless via Wi-Fi or cellular networks, also falls under the umbrella of videoelektroonika.
