Veneikumise is a term used to describe a specific type of sailing maneuver. It refers to the act of tacking or gybing a sailboat with a particular emphasis on maintaining boat speed and efficient sail trim throughout the turn. The term is not widely recognized in mainstream sailing terminology and is more likely to be found in niche sailing communities or as a colloquialism.

The core idea behind veneikumise involves precise steering and sail handling. When tacking, the boat turns through the wind. A well-executed veneikumise during a tack would involve the helmsman initiating the turn smoothly, allowing the sails to luff briefly without losing significant momentum, and then trimming the sails on the new tack as quickly as possible. Similarly, during a gybe, where the stern of the boat passes through the wind, a veneikumise would focus on controlling the boom's movement and smoothly re-trimming the sails to maintain forward progress.
