Vastusvoimat is a Finnish term referring to the strength of the knee extensor muscles, particularly the vastus group within the quadriceps femoris: vastus lateralis, vastus medialis (including vastus medialis obliquus, VMO), vastus intermedius, and the rectus femoris. These muscles work together to extend the knee and contribute to overall leg function during activities such as walking, running, and jumping. The concept emphasizes the capacity of these muscles to generate maximal force as well as their endurance during sustained activity, and it plays a role in knee stability and patellar tracking.

Assessment of vastusvoimat can be performed with laboratory or field methods. Isometric and isokinetic dynamometry measure peak knee extension torque (often in newton-meters) at various joint angles and speeds. Field assessments may include leg-press or leg-extension tests to estimate maximal strength, handheld dynamometry for knee extension force, or functional tests such as hop tests.
